Yeah i hate people who complain about ads in games. They play hundreds of online games for free a day and complain about ads. HMM getting entertainment out of the internet at the small expense of waiting 5 seconds for the skip ad button...nice

Also he brings up a valid point about all the youngins releasing games for free, giving free business to leecher websites who take games onto their site at their own will, screwing professionals out of business because no one wants to pay for games they could get for free! (whew)

that was a great article. That was a pretty arrogant statement from Kong's peeps.

Kong's nothing without their venture capital though. So at least newgrounds is an art and game site run by gamers and artists, NG lives and breathes, where as Kong will probably flatline at the sign of VC loss.

Interesting article, i actually read all the back and forth after it as well. Including from the Kong people themselves.

I think his original intent was worded incorrectly and got major burn for it.
I also agree with with MC that Kong rose and is what it is based on angel investing and not because they climbed through the ranks and earned the respect of developers so in a way, it doesnt suprise me that they would make that 'slip up' or have that sort of insensitivity to the matter.

It's an interesting time right now. I can see sponsorship pools beginning to dry up and sponsors beginning to tighten their belts and trying to find a civil and nice way to say it. The web itself is becoming very fragmented.
It will be interesting how developers adapt to that. I liked the last part of that article where the harmless faithful servant butter knife eventually comes back and stabs its owner.

Whoa that's a lot of money like...
It's like there's a tunnel all for yourself and nobody in the world has it, like your special to have it, and it spews out money, but its like someone put a huge steel blocking hole right in the middle of the hole, and since money only comes out one way, the other way get filled with money and like the other game companies take it. Wow.

Oh yeah, cereus Peashy could use some medals.

Definitely an insightful article, but runs on the parallels for artists, musicans and other respective fields of design.

I saw Rev. Anthony video a short while back and have to agree with him; drawing a line on big budget bullshit is necessary and innovate approaches need to be put into practice.

As for the soul of free gaming and game developers, animator and alike, the market will always be flooded, but the best will thrive. Its just a sucky feeling to see the big picture. But whatever said and done, passion fuels this industry.
